Mental Tension
What you think is bad
It might not be,
It's merely your point of view
You see,
And
If you're guided by
A mind invention,
The end result
Is mental tension,
So
Why not try
A gentle relax,
You'll soon be feeling
Like Goldman Sach's.

Icicles and Bicycles
In the Winter, there were icicles
And in the Spring, we had bicycles
That's how we played, back when I was a kid,
We played swords with those icicles
And rode the world on our bicycles
Nothing was better; yes, that's what we did.

La Bou
Coffee and croissants
Mornings at La Bou,
Pretty young ladies
Works for me; et tu?
Hand-prepared coffee
And delicate French bread,
Astonishing aroma's
Go straight to my head.
La Bou or Les Baux
No matter what derivation,
Rules the street; my opinion?
Culinary adoration.

All-Ages Neighbors
J Street Liquors, and
Peet's Coffee, are neighbors,
Satisfying some appetites
Rewarding some labors,
Alcohol beverages and lottery tickets
Versus, coffee, pastries and more,
Departing either establishment
Across the street, is a beckoning door.
One provides, all-ages
American favorite; caffeine,
The other, a competitive beverage
Adults-only, on the alcohol scene,
Each one offering something
For enjoyment, solace and escape,
Where aggressive and excessive consumption
Might take you straight-line to a box and a cape.
Peet's at 38th Coffee, and the
J Street Liquor store,
Pander to your thirst receptors
Which drink do you want more?

Whacky Prayers and Assumptions
He's still under the lawn
St. Joseph, upside down,
When it was time to be moving
He said, “I'm not leaving town”,
Because your whacky assumptions
Mean nothing to me,
“Help you to move?
Why that's insanity!”
The Catholic bookstore
Sold St. Joe's figurine,
They are capitalistic
If you know what I mean,
Willing to support
Anything resembling a prayer,
As if God is paying attention
To you, way up there.
St. Joseph upside down
Who the heck, thought that up?,
Maybe the two of you
Drink from the same whiskey cup,
Although, supposedly St. Joseph
Wasn't drinking at the Inn,
That's where all the trouble
Surely, did begin.

Dental Dana
Dental Dana
She has the touch,
The way she pokes my gums
Is just, too much,
In fact, I'm willing
To endure that pain,
Because her strokes are better
Than Novocaine.
Dental Dana
Can handle my condition,
She knows just what to do
To conquer inhibition,
Whether flossing or polishing
Or scraping on my teeth,
No matter what's on the surface
She knows what lies beneath.
She manipulates her tools
And rinses my gums,
There is no idle chatter
Like the rest of her chums,
And when she turns on the vacuum
To suck up my spit,
Lordy, I get a rush
I don't want her to quit.
That darling Dental Dana
She's the one for me,
Do you think if I propose
I can have dental care for free?

From the Closet
Coffee appreciated
Or coffee ignored,
It might be the quality
Of the beans that you stored,
Retrieved from the closet
And liberated in the grinder,
If by chance you grabbed the old ones
The taste will be a reminder,
That perhaps one ought to date
Beans purchased and stored,
Otherwise, you might oft repeat
Beans brewed, that were ignored.

Coffee Endeavored
Coffee brewed
At Peet's on J,
Will be as fresh tomorrow
As it was today,
Due to the use
Of their best-in-show beans,
Brewed to perfection
With the finest of machines.
The pastries are attentive
Showing features of good taste,
As the practitioners of laptops
Madly copy and paste,
And the polite and respectful
Coffee shop crew,
Do their best to attend
To the Ram and the Ewe.
Coffee endeavored
Can be a game of cut and run,
Where ancient beans are bitter
And there is mold on a lemon bun,
While on the other side of town
One can find the best of seats,
Some will say at, 38th and J
While others just call it Peet's.

Original Sin
Original man
Original sin,
Original scriptures
That won't let you in.
Original hate
Original fear,
Original prejudice
That won't let you near.
These are the beliefs
To which many subscribe,
Content in their place
As the original tribe.
God's Will Redefined
I can tell quite a tale
About the pain of mankind,
How some will follow “God's Will”
Once again, redefined,
How the calling of angels
Attracts carloads of evil,
Setting in motion
Unexpected upheaval.
The strange twist of fate
The call of the wild,
A religious revival
Sees goodness defiled,
It will prey on the weak
Lost souls seek a priest,
Charisma, the magnet
Disguises the beast.
